where are you located?
Cakes Made by M. is a home bakery located in Fort Washington, MD.
how far in advance should I place my order?
2-3 weeks’ notice is required for all orders. The earliest we accept orders is a month in advance.
can I send an image of the design I want and you replicate it?
We welcome any pictures you may have, but we will not make a copy of another artists’ work. We will use what you send as inspiration for our design only.
can you match my color(s)?
We do not guarantee exact color matches, but we will work hard to create a color that closely resembles the colors you provide. Please note that colors often look somewhat different as a result of lighting and editing.
do you deliver?
Deliveries are available for orders of $175 or more and are only made within 30 miles of Ft. Washington. The fee starts at $25. Delivery MUST be chosen at initial request and cannot be added at a later date. Delivery IS NOT available for last minute orders.
how do you accept payment?
For orders of $100 or more, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required with 48 hours of receiving the invoice for your order. The remainder of the amount is due ONE WEEK PRIOR to the order date. Accepted forms of payment are PayPal, Venmo and Zelle.
do you take last minute orders?
Last minute orders may be accommodated if there is availability, but it's not guaranteed. Any orders placed within less than 2 weeks will be subject to a rush fee and payment is due in full to secure order.
how do I transport and store my cake?
When picking up your cake, always hold it from the bottom of the box to prevent damaging the sides. The cake should be transported on a flat surface in your car (floor of passenger seat is best) with the A/C on. Cakes Made by M. is not responsible for your cake or any damages that may occur once it leaves our care. Your cake should be stored in a fridge immediately and can be brought back to room temperature before serving.
do you offer fondant cakes?
No, all our cakes are created with buttercream. Small fondant details may be added for an additional fee.
can I cancel my order or change the date?
We do not provide refunds if orders are cancelled less than 72 hours before the order date. Refunds of 50% of the total order cost are given if cancelled within 72 hours or more. Deposits and upfront payments are non-refundable. If you need to change the date of your order, please reach out as soon as possible. Date changes are dependent upon availability.
